This tour stays entirely on the water, so you can fully enjoy the island’s coastal wonders from the sea.
The tour is suitable for all levels, but if you wish to go swimming or snorkeling, you should be a confident swimmer and feel comfortable in the open water without being able to touch the bottom. If snorkeling isn’t your thing, you can still take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters or simply relax and soak in the stunning scenery from the boat.
About the Dragonera Marine Reserve
The “Sa Dragonera” Marine Reserve, established in 2016, protects one of Mallorca’s most diverse and thriving underwater ecosystems. Since its creation, the reserve has seen a remarkable recovery of marine life: the number of species has multiplied, and some populations, like the biomass of groupers, have increased up to 40 times.
The reserve is home to some of the island’s best diving and snorkeling spots. From hidden grottos and caves to impressive rock formations - there is something for every underwater explorer. Large schools of barracuda, sea bream, and other fish, as well as groupers, octopus, and moray eels, are part of the everyday scenery. With a bit of luck, you might even encounter a graceful ray gliding by.
Protected and carefully managed, the Dragonera Marine Reserve is not only a sanctuary for marine life but also a place where divers and snorkelers can experience the island’s underwater beauty in its most vibrant and natural state.
Programme:
We meet directly at our dive center in Port d'Andratx. There is a large free car park about 5 minutes away next to Hostal Catalina Vera or you can park on the side of the back street (white markings!). Please note: the blue markings for the paid parking directly in front of the center are only for 2 hours and will not be enough for the duration of the experience.
After checking in at our dive center, you’ll receive a short introduction and your snorkeling gear. Our boat is waiting just a few steps away. The tour takes us along the beautiful coastline of Andratx towards the island of Dragonera. While the sun still has some strength, we will stop at one of the remote bays of the Dragonera marine reserve for swimming, snorkeling and to enjoy drinks and snacks. You’ll have around 45 minutes to explore and enjoy the underwater world with its vibrant marine life and healthy fields of sea grass. After admiring the beauties of Dragonera under the surface our agile Zodiac will take you on a full round around the island. The side of the island facing the open sea is dominated by cliffs of up to 360 m in height - a unique perspective you usually don’t get—and it is truly breathtaking to cruise directly beneath them. On the other side - towards the open sea - the sun sets on the horizon, giving the impressive rock formations a beautiful orange glow.
Returning to the dive center, you can take a warm shower and relax with coffee, tea and cookies while sharing your experiences in our center’s welcoming atmosphere. Altogether you can calculate ca. 3,5 hours for the entire experience – from check-in to wrapping up your time with us.
